Anna & Joshua
Our Story
Josh and Anna met senior year of high school. Anna was the manager of the boys tennis team. They still play tennis today and it is still a toss up on who wins. The photo was taken at the Ponderosa Boys tennis banquet three days after they started dating.
Go Mustangs! Josh and Anna graduate from high school in May of 2017. Josh goes off to college at the University of Wyoming and Anna goes to University of Northern Colorado.
Josh eventually transferred to UNCO and college was a blast. They both played club tennis together and Josh played club lacrosse in the spring. Most weekends were spent making pizza with their friends Maddie and Blake and walking around campus looking for parties. Anna worked at the police station as a dispatcher with her best friend Taylor and Josh worked at the campus rec center. In December of 2020 Anna graduated with a BS in Chemistry and a BA in Criminal Justice. Josh graduated in May of 2021 with a BA in History. The picture is from their favorite trivia spot, Romas. They were regular players and had trivia names such as the “Halloweeners” or “Santa’s Ho’s”.
If you know the Armstrong family, you know we love a good road trip. After COVID hit in 2020 Anna was determined to make Josh love them too. He was apprehensive and told Anna anything over 6 hours was only flyable. Anna told him she would drive the entire trip if it meant he came along with her. The first stop was Moab Utah. If Anna was honest, Moab was the whole point of the trip. Moab was a large part of Anna’s childhood and she was very exited to share it with Josh. Now it is safe to say that Josh and Anna have taken countless road trips and he understands how amazing they can be. The photo is from their UTV trek along the Chicken Corners trail. The roundtrip also consisted of Lake Mead, Oxnard California, Flagstaff Arizona, and Pagosa Springs Colorado.
In November of 2020 Anna was offered a job as a Crime Scene Investigator in Santa Rosa California. Josh, knowing this was her dream, pushed Anna to go and pursue my passion. Anna moved into a one bedroom, 600 square foot granny unit on Linwood Ave in January of 2021. She was terrified and exited. (and she missed josh). The good news is Anna’s sister, Maddie, lived in Davis California and they got to see each other all the time.
Over the next year and a half Josh and Anna did long distance. During that time he was attending CU Boulder earning his Masters in Education. There were lots of facetime movie nights and cheap plane tickets. Anna and Josh got to explore a lot of the bay area during long distance. The photo is from San Francisco!
Honey obviously gets her own timeline post. Anna adopted her in May of 2021 at 11 years old. Josh is now her step dad and she might like him more than Anna. She has been on countless adventures since and is probably the only cat to have seen old faithful. Also known by the nicknames: Beans, Mrs. Beans and Scabbers.
Right after Josh moved to California Anna surprised him with a trip to London and Paris to celebrate the end of long distance and his Masters graduation. It was Josh’s first abroad trip. Anna studied abroad for a month in London during undergrad and helped navigate the tube and showed Josh the secret spots in and around London. One of their favorites was a piano bar where they got to swing dance and suggest songs to the piano players. They took the Eurostar to Paris and spent a few days in the Opera neighborhood. On Josh’s birthday they went to a restaurant called Juveniles that they still talk about to this day.
Josh moved to California in June of 2022. Anna lived in the center of wine country in Sonoma County and had already made friends with people who worked in the wine industry. (shout out to Kaylaa) Anna and Josh became wine snobs quickly and most weekends consisted of going and trying wine. Our real opinion on wine? You shouldn’t spend over $50 dollars on a bottle of wine and there is a very obvious line between good wine and bad wine. The line gets blurrier between good wine and great wine. Only pretentious people can understand where that line is. During their time in California Anna and Josh went on numerous adventures across the region. There was a local airport that had cheap direct flights all over California and the Pacific Northwest. Some notable trips were to Yosemite, San Diego, Zion, The Cascades, and Mendocino.
In April of 2023, Anna and Josh were getting restless and were wanting to go back to Colorado. Thinking it would take a year to get the jobs they want and move away they both applied to jobs. Anna got a job as a Criminalist with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Josh got a job as a high school history teacher with Arvada west. They both were offered jobs in late April of 2023. Absolutely stunned by the timing they decided the universe was urging them to go. They packed up and moved right after Josh’s birthday in July. Obviously they did a road trip on the way to Denver and stopping in Lassen Volcanic National Park, Crater Lake, Mount Hood, Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. The photo is from Burney Falls, a very beautiful and underrated waterfall in Oregon.
In December of 2023, Anna and Josh had some friends visiting from out of state. As good hosts do, Josh and Anna planned lots of fun Colorado things to do while they were there. One of them being a winter hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. On the way up to the National Park the roads were icy and Anna suggested turning around multiple times. Josh just kept saying “I think it will be okay, lets see if the road gets worse”. They ended up doing a 2 mile hike up to Dream Lake Trail. The trail was empty and at the very top Josh proposed! It was perfect.
Anna and Josh have lived in Denver for a little over two years now. Almost everyday they tell each other how thankful they are to live in such an incredible place. They have been to countless Rockies and Nuggets games, they sing Karaoke at Rumors and play ping pong at Ace. Their favorite place is Walters. That is the only downside of having their wedding in Moab, they couldn’t cater Walter’s.
In May of 2024 Josh and Anna went on vacation to Italy! It was their first trip with adult money and it was incredible. Their main goal was to eat lots of food and try lots of Italian wine. They went to Florence, Orvieto, Sorrento, and Rome. Anna’s favorite memory was trying the wine windows in Florence. Josh’s favorite memory was a picnic they had at a winery in Orvieto. The winery packed them local foods and a bottle of wine to be shared out on the vineyard.
Did you really read our whole story? You’re amazing and we love you. Every person that is invited to our wedding has some integral role in our love story. Some have seen us since day one as young high school students that only knew that we loved each other and not how we would get through college and adulthood together. Some have seen as as adults navigating living together and having demanding jobs. All of you mean the world to us and if it wasn’t for your love and support this post wouldn’t be here. We would like to thank our parents for seeing the best in us and giving us the example of putting love at the forefront of every decision. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you. Also if you got to this last sentence maybe go a reread some of those posts. There will be a Peterstrong trivia night the night before the wedding and there *might* be some answers in the posts.
